The AI glasses maker Meta Platforms (META) made Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) available in India, bringing its latest hardware to electronics and eyewear retailers alongside the appointment of Ranveer Singh as the first Indian brand ambassador for Ray-Ban and Ray-Ban Meta. The company said the glasses combined a slimmer design, longer battery life and a customizable button for access to Meta AI. The release gave Indian buyers a choice of 27 color and lens combinations across Aviator, Zena and Wayfarer styles, with prices starting at INR 44,300. Meta said the glasses were available through its website, Ray-Ban’s Indian website, consumer electronics retailers and optical and eyewear retailers. The range also included a limited-edition Aviator colorway marking that style’s 90th anniversary. Singh’s appointment added a local representative to that retail rollout. The company said he had collaborated with Meta over several years and presented the association as a combination of personal style and everyday technology. It described listening to music and podcasts, making hands-free calls and accessing Meta AI as uses for the glasses, with software updates and additional apps intended to extend those functions. Meta put longer wear and clearer voice interaction at the center of the hardware changes. The company said Gen 3 delivered up to nine hours of battery life, an hour more than Gen 2, and included professionally adjustable temple tips for fit. It said a new microphone array cut more than 90% of background noise to improve calls and voice commands in windy or crowded surroundings. The glasses also included a 12-megapixel camera and 3K video recording for hands-free capture, according to the company. Meta said a dynamic-photo feature let users select a preferred frame, and that a built-in LED helped alert people nearby when the wearer took photos or video. AI glasses had already contributed to Meta’s consumer hardware sales: the company said increased glasses sales partly offset lower Meta Quest sales in the first quarter of 2026. Both products belonged to Reality Labs, which generated revenue from consumer hardware and related software and content. Meta said its broader device efforts focused on AI, wearables and interfaces beyond two-dimensional screens. The company also announced forthcoming Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, describing audio as the most popular feature of its glasses since launch. It said the audio model weighed 43 grams and supported up to 12 hours of music, calls and hands-free assistant use on one charge. Adjustable temple tips and nose pads were among the features intended to support all-day wear. The next announced software step was hands-free access to Muse in the coming months, activated by speaking the agent’s name. Meta said Muse would also act on what a wearer was looking at, including a product on a shelf, a flier or a school-supplies list, allowing users to request action without first describing the scene.
